In early 2007 the Parish, in General Assembly, approved measures that will permit an expeditious completion of our iconography project. Current plans call for our iconographers to return in the Spring of 2008 to complete the north (left) side of the Church.
This installation includes all north walls, most ceiling scenes, pendentives*, and possibly the Koimisis on the west wall. It will be the second installation of icons. We hope to complete the third and final installation in the Spring of 2009.
Please note: By ancient tradition, the icons of female Saints are installed on the north side of a Church, its being the side of the iconostasion devoted to the Most Holy Theotokos. The converse is true for male Saints on the south side, its being the side of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
*The transition surfaces between 2 adjacent arches under the dome: see photo below.
